Any student will improve their writing skills through the study of songwriting. All the common characteristics of good writing are emphasized: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and presentation . But songwriting offers even more! Because of the time and spatial constraints involved in the genre, songwriting serves as excellent training ground for the development of good editing skills... distilling ones writing down to the strongest, most essential words. Songwriting also adds dimension and color to the creative palette --- rhythm, melody and chord structure --- an awareness of which can enhance a writers prose work in any kind of application. The musicality of songwriting lessons makes improving ones general writing skills fun!
Ken teaches children and adults. Group workshops can be arranged for families, retreat centers, corporate team-building events, etc. For long-distance students, Skype is an option for those who have it!
