Ken Lonnquist and Friends’ new musical story, Salto’s Horrible Hiccups is the tale of a beloved old “ranchero” whose sudden, mysterious (and noisy!) malady disrupts life in his small pueblo to such an extent he decides he must leave for the good of his neighbors. Through their love and determination the mysterious illness is cured. Salto climbs the steps of the “nutritional pyramid” to remain healthy, strong... and hiccup-free!

The show celebrates Spanish language while emphasizing (through the story’s central mystery) the importance of good nutrition. The production is a natural for grant support from medical and nutritional foundations, as well as D.A.R.E. funding.

Salto's Horrible Hiccups Cast

Ken Lonnquist and Friends have also been performing their version of the European holiday tale Old Befana since 1987. Troupe veterans Mike Accardo, Henry Boehm, Kelly DeHaven, and Joanne Schilling return in Salto’s Horrible Hiccups, taking on multiple roles, singing, playing instruments, narrating and dancing.

Salto’s Horrible Hiccups is a permanent feature in the troupe’s repertoire, and is available for shows in schools, libraries, and performing arts venues.

The production was absolutely marvelous with such a wonderful and talented ensemble cast, great and catchy tunes, creative set and costuming, and such an important message conveyed about proper nutrition and the power of friendship. Please relay my gratitude, thanks, and wonderment to Joanne, Kelly, Frank, Mike, and Henry. —Teresa Palumbo, Coordinator, Waisman Center Children’s Theatre

Awesome Salto! Our whole family loved it ... My friend and PTO Co-President from Thoreau Elementary was also there and after the performance she asked, "Do you think he'd do that for the school?"  I said, "Yep, it says so on that half sheet of paper over there, go grab one!"  —Melissa Meyer, Parent and Nutritionist
